Biography

Martyn's first experience of the professional stage was as a dancer at the Casino Estoril in Portugal, the show subsequently toured to Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore. Upon his return he performed in his first pantomime, at the Theatre Royal, Newcastle as a dancer alongside Dickie Henderson. This was followed by three year contract with the world famous ‘Black and White Minstrels’. Over the years  he has had the privilege to work alongside some wonderful actors including Lionel Blair, Patsy Kensit, Susanna York, Dame Anna Negal, Hinge & Brackett and Anita Harris. Martyn is currently resident Dame at the Devonshire Park Theatre in Eastbourne for the pantomime season and has been for the past 9 years, marking his 14th year in total, a craft he has perfected by watching and learning from some amazing ‘Dames’ such as George Lacy, Peter John & Kenneth Connor.  As well as performing he has also directed and choreographed several Pantomime Productions in Potters Bar for Jordan Productions.


Martyn's West-End credits include: ‘Issacher’ in ‘Joseph’, ‘Ephraim’ in ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’, ‘Sgt Jack Walters’ in ‘South Pacific’, and understudying and playing ‘Geroge’ in ‘Metropolis’. He has also appeared, to name but a few, as ‘Cliff’ in ‘Cabaret’, ‘Oscar’ in ‘Sweet Charity’, ‘Curly’ in ‘Oklahoma!’, ‘Chantel’ in ‘La Cage aux Folles’, ‘Arab’ in ‘West Side Story’, ‘Georgio’ in ‘The Gondoliers’, ‘Cornelius’ in ‘Hello Dolly’ and ‘Kenneth’ in ‘Call me Madam’.

Television Credits include: 'The Good Old Days' and  'The Royal Variety Performance' for the BBC.
